Many people believe that they could never write a story. How far that is from the truth. Stories weave their way throughout our days. They are made from the simple events that mark our journey on this trail called People like to share their stories and tell about the lessons they have learned. Your memories, however small or insignificant they seem to you, have the makings for a great story.
This week, we will be writing stories about our trail guides and the lessons they have taught us. Barron had to say about trail guides any hike has lots of surprises, uncertainties, and challenges, it helps to think of other people who have walked the same trail before. Trail guides, let call them. And just as trail guides can be helpful to a hiker on the ground, they make a crucial difference to anyone on a hero journey. For they remind us we are not walking alone That one reason heroes are so important. Essential, really. Whether they are real or imaginary, they can guide and encourage us as we follow a heroic trail. we are going to think about people who have been our trail guides. These guides may have given you explicit directions on how to continue on the path of life or they may have been a role model for you to follow. The lesson may have been monumental or simple, funny or heart wrenching, current or from the past. You may have learned the lesson because you followed their example or advice or you may have learned a lesson because you did not follow in their footsteps or listen to what they said. Finally, we are going to share some of our stories which will get us ready to write.
So much of what we do in ELA is drill. Whether we are studying how to use homonyms correctly or what punctuation is appropriate to end an imperative sentence, we must practice, practice, practice. We must constantly review vocabulary words and their definitions just as we must constantly review spelling rules and their exceptions. Even now, I hear your collective groan. This site is available to you at any computer that has Internet access. You can practice your vocabulary, grammar lessons, and sentence rules. There are several activities that have been created for you and new activities will appear all the time. Kubbu will keep track of your progress for you. It will track your high scores, your best scores, and the history of your activity. It will also prioritize what you need to practice most.
I will book lab time once a week unless the lab is reserved for other activities. Feel free to access the site during your study halls or after school here at school. You may also access the site at home so be sure you put your login/password information somewhere in your SAB. You may return to the site as often as you wish to practice.
